October 25, 2015 I Climbed a Volcano and Flew

Dear Family,

This companionship of ours gets left out of the loop quite a bit (for example we were not notified of the Concepcion temple first shovel scoop broadcast until all of the missionaries and the mission president went last Saturday) and we found out kind of last minute-ish that our zone was going to Volcan Osorno today. So that's why you didn't get anything from me on Saturday. And welp we were able to go to Volcan Osorno anyway! It was supposedly supposed to be covered in snow and absolutely gorgeous, but it ended up being fog thick and black.

It was a blast nonetheless. We hiked to the top. Half of the zone got lost and we had to yell out to them in the mist. It was pretty awesome. We found them about an hour later.

On the way back down I decided to try out my super velocity speed powers with Hermana Laguna and I forgot that molten lava rock is my ultimate super power weakness and after I hit a fair speed of 130 miles per hour, the ground couldn't hold me anymore, and I flew. Which also means I came down at some point in the day (4.78 seconds to be exact). It was a glorious fall. I really went flying. And I didn't even bust my head open on a lava rock.

So there's that.

This week was fun. I learned a lot.

On Wednesday I went worked in a sector named Rahue Alto, and the house I stayed in was the very first house I stayed in here in Chile. It was pretty neat to relive a little of my mission's first impressions in a second impression. We also ate lunch with a sister from that ward and a dog ate at the table with us and cut his t-bone steak with a knife and a fork. Before that I saw a real life Bumblebee, and it was so fat.

Also we ran into a few bigger health problems in the mission and I had to do a lot of translating between my companion to the doctors in Santiago that are from the states, and the parents of a missionary and lots of English speaking people. It was an interesting week and my brain was hurting from mixed communication. haha

Today, I woke up on the floor with my tennis shoes on... I was very confused, but my companion told me that I got up at1:30 am and put on my tennis shoes. She said that when she asked me what I was doing, I said, ''What are YOU doing?! You have to get up! We need to run run run run RUNNNN!''
And then she told me I need to sleep because we still have 5 more hours of sleep. And I said, ''Whaaaaaaaaat???'' And then stared at my pillow and that's all she remembered because she went back to sleep. I didn't recall a bit of that haha But I guess the habit is instilled within me. Woop!

As always, there is so much to tell you about my experiences of this week, but I just spent a solid 2 hours driving along the Osorno countryside and I can't grasp one thought from another. This country is beautiful.

Congratulations Jacob and Sara! I'm happy for you.

Ammon, I can't wait for you.

Oh family....I don't know what to say.
I bet this week was awesome. I hope the next to come is great too! I am extremely excited for Ammon to start this adventure. It's way more than an adventure. Ammon, you'll understand what I mean when you get on that plane. And when you get off. And when you put on your tag. And then when you just get blown away by the greatness this missionary life.

I love you all more than using all the ink in a pen TIMES THIRTEEN!

Till next week with a better letter!

Hermana Olson

P.P.S. I just realized that next week I'll have a letter from Elder Olson too! Woah.

P.P.P.S. I just realized there isn't a plain old P.S.

P.S. I love you.

...darn it. Isn't that a movie?
