so SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited for Ammon! Future Elder Olson!!!!!!! Wooooo!
Oh wow. Yeah I don't know what else to say. All week I worried I was going to
open an email saying he's going to Tennessee because after writing that fourth
guess to you guys we left the ciber and I asked Hermana Mota where she thought
my brother would go and she said, Tennessee. And I thought that was so weird
that a Brazilian would know that random state and she said it's one of the only
ones she knows hahahahha. Well, Ammon, woo! I can't wait to be in the field
with my little big brother missionary! IN SPANISH! muhahahahhaha!!
Alrighty. So this week
was pretty great!
Tuesday the zone
leaders called and said our bishop was going to show up with Hna. Mota's
suitcase... And guess what. He showed up with MY LONG LOST SUITCASE! Three
months later!!!!!!!! I was so excited! It was like Christmas!!!!!!! ....until I
opened it and realized half of my things were gone and the rest was covered in
mold. Well, hey! There's a fun mission experience fer ya! I was pretty bummed.
As I was figuring out what I didn't have, I was just kind of sitting there not
thinking much as of yet until I realized my journal from all of Valdivia was
gone. That's when my heart sunk. . . But I washed the clothes and unpacked the
rest of what was still in there and went on with the day. And somehow I arrived
at a magical point of calm. It's kind of funny the ''bad luck'' I have. But I
really don't feel like it's all that bad. And it isn't luck. As odd as it might
sound, I am convinced that Heavenly Father is involved in the details of our
lives and I feel like he just decided that right now, He was going to give me
an opportunity to learn. And I have! I'm glad He started out with something
less traumatic like being robbed of some of my belongings. Because worse
things can happen, and I'm pretty sure that in the rest of the years of my life,
worse things will happen. So I'm just glad that he's preparing me now in the
happy missionary life I'm in rather than hitting me hard with something worse
in the ''real world.''
A lot of my jewelry
was taken including my young women's medallion and the dolphin necklace Samuel
gave me for Christmas (one of my favorites), but I guess I'll just have to do
Personal Progress again.. All of my recuerdos from Valdivia were taken too...so
I just hope I return. And as far as my journal...I've just been trying to
dedicate a little bit of journal time to writing what I can remember. I'm
trying to remember the names of people at least and I'm surprised at what
Heavenly Father is helping me remember. But todo bien! At least my suitcase
arrived! That was a miracle in itself. haha
So this was a good
week. Lots of work. Weird weather which went as follows: Sunny really pretty
sunny next day, snow, night time wind which meant next day ice which meant next
day falling, but then the next morning SNOW until it decided to rain so it
turned into SLUSH which meant the next day was rivers and the next ice. And
today there is sun. Weeeheeee.
We had intercambios
and I stayed in my sector again. It sure was fun. They always are.
Missionarying is so great. Hermana Pérez is from Uruguay and is just a stellar
missionary. In the morning she asked me what I usually do for morning
exercises. So I told her to wait and I turned on some music, which the only
thing we have is Glorious by David Archuletta (Hna. Mota and I were so excited to
get my MP3 player and actually have music to listen to! ....but yeah that was
stolen too. LAME), and then I danced. And then basically just have Ammon
explain to you all about that one day I told him that I taught myself how to
tap dance and then showed him. Yeah. It was THAT great. hahahaha She laughed a
lot. Then I showed her how to make Banana Bread and when she tried it she said
it was heaven in her mouth and then kind of ate all of it! hahaha All in all it
was a good intercambio. We challenged two people to be baptized. And they said
yes! But one of them lives in Natales (3 hours from Punta Arenas) And the other
in Por Venir (an island in Punta Arenas) so we referred them to the elders over
there. :) Woohoo. oh yeah they were contacts in the street, but it was awesome
hahaha!
Alrighty I don't know
what else to say.... Oh! We have a new investigator named Jorge. He thinks I'm
an alien. And I'm not kidding! He's kind of superstitious and in the beginning
only looked at my companion when we talked to him. hahahaha When we talk to him
on the phone, he always says wait, am I talking with the extra terrestre? and
if he is, he asks to talk to the other sister. hahahah And the first time we
contacted him I thought he was joking so I just went along with it saying, ''oh
yeah that was me that you saw the other night'' (because he was telling us
about how he saw a light fling across the sky or something like that and he
knew it was an alien.) And he freaked. out. And then I said, no really I'm not
an alien! And then he said, No look! She still is trying to learn the language
of earth! hahaha because of my accent. But other than that weird thing about
him, he's super great and is going to progress a lot. He really wants to repent
and I think he's awesome. and perhaps not totally normal, but he's a good child
of God. :)
Ben Skelton is coming
home! Shoot dang! Time passes so fast. Mission time is literally like another
dimension! Let me know if he has a funny accent or something when he tries to
speak English :)
Okay, well I'm glad to
hear the family reunion was so great and that so many went! I wish I could've
been there, but I'm happy being here too. I love you all very very much!
Love,
Hermana Olson
Pictures: There is so much trash in Patagonia haha I found this sign a little ironic. It says don't throw away trash. And here are a few fotos of Hna Mota and I modeling the missionary style... hahahahaha but yeah. I realized you didn't have very many fotos or perhaps none of my new companion, so here ya go! She's super silly. And okay well, I'd love to send more, but I gotta go!
